Coleraine midfielder Brad Lyons has joined Championship club Blackburn Rovers initially on loan until January, and then on an 18-month contract as confirmed on the club website.

The 21-year-old watched the Bannsiders beat Crusaders 3-0 to go top of the league at Seaview on Monday night and his transfer was completed on Tuesday.

In 119 appearances, Lyons scored 19 goals and moves for an undisclosed fee.

So is Lyons a good signing for Rovers?

We discuss.....

It remains to be seen if the young Irish striker has what it takes to make it at Blackburn Rovers.

He’s only 21 and has played in both Coleraine’s Europa League qualifying matches this season before his move to Ewood Park.

An unknown quantity, he could be a breakout star for Tony Mowbray’s side - but I expect him to play in the U23s this season so the club can run the rule over him.

George Dagless

Potentially a good deal.

He comes from Ireland and quite often their players end up having good careers over here.

I can't see him starting straight away but I think in the end he could be a shrewd arrival.

Gary Hutchinson

He looks to be a good prospect.

It’s hard to say whether he’s the real deal or not, few of us will have seen many Coleraine games, if any.

That said, the League of Ireland has been a rich vein of talent in the past and Lyons could be the latest in that line of talent.
