As many as eight teams are currently in the race to recruit Forest Green Rovers midfielder Ebou Adams ahead of the summer transfer window, as per an update from Lancs Live.

The 26-year-old has been a key player for Rovers during their promotion-winning campaign, registering 35 appearances in the fourth tier so far this term and being prevented from appearing even more often by his participation in the African Cup of Nations.

Gambia may have been knocked out in the quarter-final stage of the competition - but his performances at a domestic level have increased interest in his services with the same Lancs Live report revealing that Blackpool have even gone as far as making an offer to the midfielder ahead of his contract expiring in the summer.

However, they aren't alone in their quest to recruit Adams with Cardiff City on the hunt for bargains this summer as they look to revamp their squad within what is likely to be a very limited budget for Steve Morison this summer.

The Welsh outfit are thought to hold an interest in the 26-year-old, though the Seasiders are hoping to get ahead of the Bluebirds by inviting the player's representatives to Bloomfield Road for their final home game of the season against Derby County this weekend.

Unfortunately for Neil Critchley's men, there are eight teams tracking Adams at this stage according to Lancs Live, potentially setting up a bitter battle for his services.

The Verdict:

Considering how limited Cardiff's budget may be with the club previously struggling with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, it would be no surprise to see the Bluebirds ruled out of the race quite early on.

This is because Adams will be able to raise his wage demands with the amount of interest there is in his signature, though the sale of Kieffer Moore may potentially give them the funds to get this deal over the line.

Critchley should also have hopes of getting an agreement sealed because they already seem quite deep into negotiations and the Seasiders are going the extra mile to recruit him, so the financial aspect of this potential deal may be the trickiest to negotiate.

However, with the club securing a solid second-tier finish following their promotion last term with the Lancashire side only likely to get stronger, the club's board may make the money available needed to secure this signing.

And they arguably require less surgery than the Bluebirds in the summer, though it's anyone's guess where the midfielder will end up with these eight sides tracking his progress at this stage.
