Sky Bet League One side Portsmouth will not be prepared to let Jamal Lowe leave for just £2million in the summer, according to reports from the Portsmouth News.

The 24-year-old has been influential for the South Coast club this season, scoring 17 goals and producing eight assists in all competitions for Kenny Jackett's side.

But, after missing out on promotion to the Championship, Pompey's chances of keeping the attacker at Fratton Park for another year have been decreased, with a number of high-profile clubs looking to pursue his signature.

Leeds United, Cardiff City and Wigan Athletic have all been credited with an interest in the versatile forward, with Sky Sports claiming that Portsmouth will look for a fee of around £2million for the playmaker.

But the latest update has now challenged those claims, with the club's valuation of Lowe believed to be much higher than the £2million mark.

It remains to be seen whether Pompey will be able to keep hold of Lowe for another season, but with the club possessing an option to extend Lowe's contract by another year next season, Jackett's side have no need to cash in.

The Verdict

I was surprised when I saw that Pompey would demand around £2million for Lowe, given the season and the impact he has had this term.

In my view, they should be looking at around the £4-5million mark, as that's probably what he is worth in today's market.

If I were Leeds, I'd be looking to use Mallik Wilks next season, as he's a very good player too.
