Leeds United are set to move once again for Carpi striker Jerry Mbakogu and there could be significant developments in the coming days.

That's the latest according to respected Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, who claims that the stumbling blocks that had been holding up a deal will be resolved.

The powerful 25-year old target man was thought to be a target for the Whites in January and they had agreed a fee to sign the player in the summer.

However, earlier this month it was revealed that the Yorkshire club had ended their interest in the striker as they moved on to other targets.

Both Abel Hernandez and particularly Matej Vydra had been linked with moves to Elland Road but those deals have stalled in recent weeks.

Therefore, with Marcelo Bielsa very short on strikers, they've been forced to look elsewhere. The club didn't sign Pierre-Michel Lassoga after his loan was up and only Kemar Roofe hit double figures last season other than the big German.

The Verdict

This will be frustrating news for Leeds fans as Mbakogu doesn't have a great record and the likes of Vydra and Hernandez are much more exciting options.

As well as that, reports last week suggested that the club didn't want him, indicating he isn't good enough, so it's a desperate move.

With Marcelo Bielsa coming in they should've had a clear idea on targets and a striker had to be a priority, instead it appears a bit of a shambles at the moment and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
