Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) are moving closer to the takeover of Leeds United, it has been reported by ESPN in the last 24 hours.

Leeds United supremo Andrea Radrizzani is close friends with Nasser al-Khelaifi – QSI’s chairman – which has led to speculation that the PSG owners are keen to takeover the Championship club after regular meetings.

Radrizzani has played down recent trips to Paris on his social media page, but reports continue to emerge suggesting that positive talks are taking place and things are moving in the right direction in terms of a takeover.

That latest came last night from ESPN, who indicate that more talks are scheduled for the coming days and whilst an immediate takeover isn’t likely, things are moving in the right direction.

The report goes on to say that QSI, who own French club PSG, have been keen to get involved with an English club for some time and considered Queens Park Rangers alongside Leeds – however, they’ve favoured the Yorkshire-based outfit as they push on with talks.

Currently, Leeds are third in the Sky Bet Championship table and head out of November’s international break this weekend with a trip to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town.

The Verdict

This speculation just doesn’t seem to be going away and it feels inevitable that something will give regarding QSI and Leeds United Football Club.

From a Leeds perspective, it must be so exciting to have a mega-rich group taking an interest in your club, as the possibilities for the future could be endless.

Of course, their money would only really be useful to Leeds if they were in the Premier League, but if the Whites can get over the hurdle of promotion this season and this develops, exciting times could be on the horizon.
