Former Burnley boss Sean Dyche is keen to speak to Rangers regarding the managerial vacancy at Ibrox, according to yesterday's report from Football Insider.

The 51-year-old was dismissed by the Clarets back in April with the Lancashire club struggling in the Premier League at that point, though many pundits and football supporters across the country viewed his sacking as incredibly harsh.

Managing to turn the Lancashire outfit into a competitive top-tier outfit despite being forced to work within a limited budget, he has been linked with multiple jobs since his departure from Turf Moor.

The 51-year-old has decided to take time away from the game but has admitted that his desire to get back into management is coming back, though it's currently unclear where he will head next.

Following the departure of Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Ibrox though, this has potentially presented Dyche with the opportunity to force his way back into the game, though Queens Park Rangers boss Mick Beale is believed to be in pole position to secure the top job at this stage.

However, Dyche is keen to speak to the Scottish Premiership side and his interest could potentially make him another serious candidate in the race for the vacancy, potentially providing QPR with a boost as they hope to keep hold of their current manager.

The Verdict:

Dyche may want quite a bit of power at Ibrox and it remains to be seen whether he will be allowed to have that control - because many clubs are on the prowl for a head coach now instead of a manager.

The ex-Burnley boss falls into the latter category and considering how successful he was during his time in Lancashire, he should be trusted if given the opportunity to take the Gers forward.

It also remains to be seen whether he would be willing to work with a Scottish assistant because that seems to be a non-negotiable for officials in Glasgow according to last night's report from The Scottish Sun.

His backroom staff from his time at the Clarets may be willing to move up to Glasgow with him so Dyche may be reluctant to bring in an outsider - but he may be prepared to make sacrifices to secure this job.

He hasn't managed in the Scottish Premiership before, so the 51-year-old may see this as a much more exciting opportunity than a return to the English second tier. A Premier League job may be tempting for him though.
