Middlesbrough have not reached an agreement with Everton over a deal for winger Yannick Bolasie, although that’s not to say the deal is off.
Neil Warnock is keen to strengthen his squad before today’s 5pm deadline and a move for the DR Congo international appeared to be a possibility as Bolasie is completely out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park.
However, Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie provided the latest on the situation involving the winger and he revealed that Bolasie remains with Everton as discussions continue between the clubs.
“Yannick Bolasie deal to Middlesbrough is doubt as no agreement yet in place with Everton. The player still on Merseyside, but a loan deal could take place without a medical.”
Boro will have less than an hour to get this sorted and the 31-year-old would surely welcome a switch having failed to make the Everton squad for a single game this season.
The skilful ex-Crystal Palace man has spent the previous few years out on loan, featuring for Aston Villa, Anderlecht and most recently Sporting Lisbon.
This would be a real shame if this didn’t happen as it’s a deal that should suit everyone.
Firstly, Everton have no need for Bolasie so even if Boro took a percentage of his wages for this season, it’s better than nothing.
As for the Championship side, they would be getting a very good, direct player that offers them something they currently lack, whilst Bolasie gets regular football instead of playing for the U23s, so hopefully something can be sorted quickly.
