Sunderland have enjoyed a pretty stable start to proceedings this season and that is certainly a relief to many of the Black Cats' faithful.

The men from the Stadium of Light dropped into the second tier at the end of last year and after another summer of change many wondered just whether or not they'd be able to respond quickly to their new surroundings.

It seems, though, that they are going to be okay in the second tier with them just losing once this season so far in the league but some bad news off of the pitch could be about to strike.

Indeed, according to the London Evening Standard, West Ham are weighing up a move for the Black Cats' impressive midfielder Didier Ndong.

It's thought that the Hammers are getting frustrated in having to wait for the signature of William Carvalho to the extent where Ndong is now looking a viable option.

Certainly, that would be a blow for Sunderland with Ndong proving a very energetic force in the middle of the park and so they'll be hoping that the Hammers hold off for this final week of the window.

The Verdict

Ndong is a decent player in the middle of the park and gives Sunderland some drive and purpose through the centre of the pitch.

For sure, then, he'd be a real miss heading into the rest of the campaign and with just a week left of the window, Simon Grayson will be hoping that the Carvalho to West Ham deal gets over the line ASAP.
