Football League World's Brentford fan pundit Jatin Guntupalli has shared his excitement at the possible signing of Blackpool left-back Marc Bola.

Alan Nixon of The Sun initially reported that the club had made a bid for the 21-year-old on Tuesday night and Guntupalli believes his arrival would go some way to solving one of Thomas Frank's biggest squad issues.

"Absolutely yes," the regular punter told Football League World when asked if Bola would make a good signing for the Bees.

"I've previously mentioned the need for quality, defensive depth and he adds to that.

"Brentford only have one first-team ready left-back in Rico Henry, who is prone to injuries, and one first-team right-back in Henrik Dalsgaard.

"Being only 21, Bola has room for growth which makes him profitable as well. He possesses all the great qualities needed for a fullback and it would be a great addition."

Last season saw Bola make 43 appearances for Blackpool in all competitions as they pushed for a place in the League One play-offs.

But despite being a regular for Terry McPhillips, Guntupalli is unconvinced that he will be a regular at Griffin Park.

"This depends on one factor - our injury luck," he said.

"However, if Rico Henry and Dalsgaard stay fit then I doubt we will see much of Bola this season, which was expected.

"A young player making a step up shouldn't be given first-team football immediately. They must be tested to see if they have the ability and determination to make that position their own."

It has been a busy transfer window for the Bees this summer with David Raya, Pontus Jansson, Ethan Pinnock, Christian Nörgaard and Mathias Jensen all arriving at the club.

But with the likes of Neal Maupay and Said Benrahma both having interest in them this summer from many clubs across Europe, there is still the threat of a significant blow hanging over them.

However, Guntupalli is remaining positive and has been very impressed with the ambition shown so far this summer.

"I'm overall happy with the way pre-season has gone," he said.

"The part that has impressed me is the transfers.

"The amount of quality signings we've made has been incredible and shows how far the club has come. Frank and the club are showing true ambition and clearly hope to gain promotion to the Prem this season."
