‘Positively prolific’ – Aston Villa fans react to 29-year-old’s performance in QPR defeat

James Chester celebrates at S'Land

It was a tough evening in the Sky Bet Championship for Steve Bruce and Aston Villa, who saw their automatic promotion hopes take a hit against Queens Park Rangers.

After recording three consecutive victories, Villa were looking to close in on second, however, last night they came unstuck against a QPR side who were 3-1 winners at Villa Park.

Ryan Manning, Jake Bidwell and Luke Freeman scored goals for Ian Holloway’s side, with Villa’s goal from James Chester a small consolation on a difficult evening.

Last night’s strike for Chester was his third in three appearances for Villa, with the defender one of very few players to come out of the QPR defeat with any credit.

The 29-year-old has been consistent alongside John Terry in central defence this season, and despite that unit conceding three times last night, Chester received plenty of praise, particularly for his goalscoring contribution.
