West Brom have suffered back-to-back defeats in recent weeks which has seen them lose ground on their promotion chasing rivals.

But Darren Moore has had his fair share of injury problems this season, with Matt Phillips being one of the key men that have been ruled out of action in recent weeks.

But the Baggies will be hoping that Phillips can return to the first-team picture in the near future, and he could be in line to make a start as early as this weekend.

Speaking in an interview with the club's official website, Moore gave a positive update on Phillips' recovery from his ankle injury.

"Matty is okay and he should be fine for Saturday. He has only recently returned from his ankle injury and we don’t want to push him too hard, too soon."

But Moore was slightly less confident with Kieran Gibbs who has been out of action with a hip injury picked up earlier this year.

"Gibbo is slightly different and we will have to keep an eye on him throughout the week. He has a slight hip problem.

"Hopefully he can make good progress but at the minute I’d have to rate him 50/50."

West Brom head into a crucial period in the season where they will be desperate for a much-needed three points to keep their promotion bid alive.

Moore's side take on relegation-threatened Ipswich Town this weekend, where they will be expected to pick up a vital win to keep them in the promotion race.

The Verdict:

This is an encouraging injury update.

Both Phillips and Gibbs have been crucial to the success of this West Brom team and Darren Moore will be hoping they can return to the squad as quickly as possible.

The sooner they're back, the better.
