The Sky Bet League One table is making for very interesting reading at the moment with both ends of the table hard to call right now.
And, indeed, this weekend sees a game between two sides who have interests at either end as Bristol Rovers play host to Sunderland.
Meeting at the Memorial Stadium, Rovers will be looking for home advantage to help them out, and under Graham Coughlan they’ve shown they’re more than capable of getting a result in a game like this.
However, after beating Gillingham earlier this week, Sunderland also have a renewed sense of confidence about them and a couple of Black Cats updates going into this one will grab the Gasheads’ attention.
Indeed, Will Grigg is off of the mark and looking sharp for the club – in a league where he has often proven a real menace, whilst it appears Duncan Watmore could also be back.
He was rested against Accrington and then missed the win over the Gills with a slight niggle after impressing against Blackpool and Jack Ross expects him to be in contention for Saturday.
As quoted by the Sunderland Echo, he said:
“Duncan had a slight groin problem, we could have risked him.
“All being well he will be back on Saturday in the squad.”
Rovers fans, then, will obviously be slightly concerned at an in-form Grigg and refreshed Watmore potentially both starting this weekend.
They can cause the Black Cats problems themselves, though, with them unbeaten in four and confident under their new manager.
