Rotherham's hope of avoiding relegation have been given a boost with the news that striker Kyle Vassell could be set for a return from injury.

Vassell has been restricted to just three league appearances for the Millers in 2019 because of a groin problem, which he underwent surgery for in February, and the Northern Ireland international could soon be set for a return to action.

Speaking to The Star about the club's injury situation, Millers boss Paul Warne revealed: “We'll have Kyle Vassell training with us this week which is good news.

“We only really have a couple missing now on the injury front."

Discussing the possibility of having Vassell available again, Warne added: “If Vass comes back that's great. Obviously it is different training with the lads than working with the fitness coach, so we'll see how he comes through this week.

“It might be an opportunity this weekend, it might not. We’ll have a good look at him this week.”

The verdict

Following the news of Clark Robertson's return in defence Rotherham, this feels as if things are starting to fall into place at the right time for The Millers, as key players return for the most crucial part of the run in yet.

They have already shown in recent weeks they have got the fight needed to beat the drop, and it now seems they could have the manpower available for it too.
