Leeds United handed Sheffield United automatic promotion with a 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa earlier today.

The Blades were all but up anyway, but Leeds' inability to see off Villa put the rubber stamp on the top two in the Championship.

It was a controversial game at Elland Road throughout, with a point probably being fair for both sides in the end ahead of a potential meeting in the play-offs in a few weeks' time.

And there was at least some good news for Leeds following the game, with Phil Hay confirming that although Stuart Dallas remains doubtful, striker Kemar Roofe is indeed expected to be fit for the final game of the season against relegated Ipswich Town next week.

Having Roofe back will of course be a massive boost for Leeds and their promotion chances, and there is every chance he might come straight back into the team following Patrick Bamford's less than sporting antics earlier in the day.

Roofe was key for the Whites in the early part of the season but his injury problems have ravaged the second half of his campaign as he has sat back and watched his side throw away their chances at automatic promotion.

The Verdict

This is massive this for Leeds, absolutely massive.

Roofe makes such a difference for them and their playing style, and it will be like having a brand new player available in the play-off run.

Roofe will be desperate to get back to business too, and he will have a serious point to prove.
