Peterborough United have today been linked with a move for Swindon Town right back Nathan Thompson.
The Posh are in severe need of players to fill the defensive void after both Craig Alcock and Mark Little were released at the end of the 2013/14 season. Youngster Michael Richens is the club’s only recognised right-back.
23 year-old Thompson has been at Swindon since 2009. In that time he has racked up 75 league appearances and one goal. Thompson was voted 2012/13 Swindon Town Player of the Year by the club’s fans.
In an interview with BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, Ferguson confirmed they had given up in their attempts to re-sign recently released right back Craig Alcock, and were now looking at other targets.
When questioned on rumours linking Posh to Thompson, the Scot refuse to comment.
Fergie did however reveal that Peterborough would be taking young Manchester City winger Adam Drury out to their Portugal training camp to ‘monitor his progress’ ahead of a possible loan move.
The Posh manager also reiterated Chairman Darragh MacAnthony’s dismissal of Sky Sport’s report that The Posh had made a bid for Leyton Orient winger Dean Cox. Ferguson said he ‘had no idea where it [the story] had come from’.
