After a run of one win in ten matches played, it was finally time up for Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce when he was sacked following their latest match, a 3-3 draw against Preston in the Championship in the week.

Bruce, 57, had spent two years at Villa Park and was managing his ninth club since his first appointment at Sheffield United back in 1998.

So what next for Bruce?

We discuss.....

It’s a tough one to call but should Gary Rowett not be able to improve Stoke’s fortunes and their indifferent run of form continues, I can see Steve Bruce making a swift return to football.

I have had a suspicion since Steve Bruce was on the verge of being sacked that if Stoke continued to be poor then the Potters’ hierarchy would wait for Bruce to be sacked before ditching their own boss and snapping up the former Villa man.

I still maintain this and it would be the logical next club should things continue as they are now.

George Dagless

Portugal to play golf.

After that, though, he'll return looking for another job in either the Championship or the Premier League.

Ipswich or Reading might have vacancies soon enough and I'm sure a job will present itself to him at some point this season.

Gary Hutchinson

On holiday.

He needs to dust himself off, get on a place and sit on a beach somewhere sipping sangria and thinking about himself and his family.

Forget football for six months. Just relax.

His Villa spell has been a nightmare and right now, any job he takes would be a rebound.

Louie Chandler

I cannot see him managing for a while.

He looked seriously fed up towards the end of his Villa tenure and I can see him taking a break from management for a while.
