Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett is more likely than not preparing his transfer business as the club prepare for life back in League One, which could just be the beginning of something special on the south coast.

Michael Doyle, one of the pinnacle players in Pompey's title-winning campaign, has left join League Two outfit Coventry City and they are on the look-out for a superior replacement who can dominate opponents.

Which is why I suggest they swoop for Crystal Palace defensive midfielder Hiram Boateng, whom has become one of the stand-out performers in the heart of the pitch in recent times - especially during his two loan stints last term.

The 21-year-old began the 2016/17 campaign at Bristol Rovers and after swiftly returning to Selhurst Park signed for Justin Edinburgh's Northampton Town; making quite the impression on both managers.

Boateng has slowly worked his way into the ranks at Palace, still struggling to break into the first-team, and is likely to be featured in his club's pre-season schedule but is doubtful to make an appearance in the top-flight.

Portsmouth will be aiming to push for the top-six or higher for automatic promotion, which could be the case with the impeccably experienced Kenny Jackett.

However, if they did go in to get Hiram Boateng's services this summer then I would tip Pompey to become exemplary and that can only be beneficial for the club and player's development in the long-term.
