Portsmouth return to Fratton Park this Saturday to take on Shrewsbury in League One, with defender James Bolton "fully focused" on getting all three points.

Pompey will be looking to bounce back after their midweek defeat to Coventry City, which ended their nine-game winning run.

Bolton played a crucial part in that sequence of wins at right-back, and the 25-year-old was proud to be a part of making history.

“To have a big role in a winning team has been massive and so of course I’ve enjoyed this recent run in the side," the defender told the club website.

Despite the recent setback, Bolton has said the team must now look forward to the run in until the end of the season as promotion is still up for grabs.

“We have to relish it and look forward to the games because promotion is wide open for a lot of teams."

“Getting into the Championship would be a big achievement for me personally and it would be massive for the whole squad," he said.

Saturday's game also sees Bolton come up against his former club.

“It’s always nice to see a few familiar faces, but I’m fully focused on trying to get all three points for Pompey," the 25-year-old said.

Despite Shrewsbury's lowly league position of 17th, it will not be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination.

Pompey lost to the Shrews early on in the season, and have won just one of their last five meetings against the Shropshire side.

However, a win could move Pompey into 4th place.

The Verdict

Bolton has found some of his best form in a Pompey shirt of late, and will be looking to keep the position his own until the end of the season.

Pompey will know that a win on Saturday will be imperative as they look to maintain their grip on the play-off places.

The whole team will have to step up after Tuesday's performance, as their unbeaten run at Fratton Park in the league will be at stake.
