Portsmouth are preparing for another season in League One after their play-off semi-final defeat to Oxford United last term.

Kenny Jackett's side put a shaky start to the 2019/20 campaign behind them and secured a play-off place after an impressive late-season run.

They'll be hoping to carry some of that momentum into the upcoming season, which gets underway in September, and will be keen to strengthen their squad to ensure that can happen.

With that in mind, we've pulled together all the latest Pompey transfer news to keep you up to date...

Ex-Swansea City winger on trial at Pompey

According to Hampshire Live, former Swans winger Mason Jones-Thomas is on trial at the League One club and took part in their pre-season clash with AFC Totton on Tuesday evening.

The 19-year-old is a free agent after being released by Swansea in the summer and will continue to be assessed by the backroom staff after his performance in midweek.

Jones-Thomas played for 55 minutes in what was a youthful Portsmouth side and won the penalty for the second goal.

Club's stance over in-demand goalkeeper outlined

Alex Bass has been linked with a move away this summer, with both Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace touted with an interest, but it seems as though the shot-stopper is set to stay.

Speaking to the Portsmouth News, assistant boss Joe Gallen has been firm that they're not looking to sell the 22-year-old.

He said: "No, we’re not at all (looking to sell Bass).

"There’s been talk but no bids or no talking about it between us and other clubs – so Bassy stays with us."

Young left-back on club radar

Portsmouth are keen on teenage Ross County defender Josh Reid, according to a report from the Press and Journal.

The 18-year-old left-back has impressed through the start of the 2020/21 campaign, featuring five times, and it appears he's caught the eye of the South Coast club.

It is believed no official approach has yet been made.

Pompey's interest in Liverpool forward over

Pompey were thought to be competing with Ipswich Town to sign the 20-year-old on loan but it has been reported that he is not an option that they're pursuing at this moment.
