Portsmouth are to field a reserve team for the 1st time since their relegation from the Premier League in 2010, reports www.portsmouthfc.co.uk.

Pompey’s development team will compete with AFC Wimbledon, Bournemouth, Cambridge, Gillingham, Leyton Orient, Luton and Peterborough in the newly-formed Final Third Development League Southern Division.

The teams in will play each other home and away therefore meaning each team will play 14 games over the course of the season.

The Final Third Development League – the oldest reserve league in England – are running a division in the south of the country for the first time in their 103-year history.
