Portsmouth have joined the likes of Derby County and Rangers in the race to sign Motherwell star Jake Hastie, according to reports from the Daily Express.

The 20-year old has caught the eye of plenty of high-profile clubs this term, after a string of eye-catching displays for the Scottish outfit.

The winger, who has endured an impressive first-half of the campaign on loan with Alloa Athletic, has scored 11 goals in 40 games in all competitions this term, six of those coming since returning to Fir Park.

But the exciting attacker is facing an uncertain future with Well, and is attracting a host of big clubs with his contract set to expire in the summer - Championship sides Derby County, Middlesbrough, Hull and Millwall are said to be interested, along with Rangers and MLS side Atlanta United.

But League One side Portsmouth are also believed to be interested in Hastie, with the 20-year likely to cost around £300,000 in development fees if they wish to land his services.

Kenny Jackett's men, after their Checkatrade Trophy final victory at Wembley last month, still have their eyes on automatic promotion from League One this season.

The South Coast club currently sit 4th in the league standings, two points off the top two places with a game in hand on rivals Barnsley.

The Verdict

Hastie is likely to attract even more clubs between now and the end of the season, as he is an exceptional talent with a massive future ahead of him.

It would be a huge coup if Pompey were to land Hastie, especially given the calibre of clubs that are also being linked with a move to sign the winger.

£300,000 would be an absolute bargain for the attacker, and he could be another exciting attacking option for Jackett to have in his armory.
