Portsmouth’s new striker Jamal Lowe could be in line for his debut tonight, according to The News.

The 22-year old is part of Pompey’s squad who have travelled to Doncaster Rovers for tonight’s Sky Bet League Two clash.

The new man was involved in the warm-up, but did not feature, in Monday’s victory over Luton.

Lowe, who has signed an 18-month contract from National League South side Hampton & Richmond, scored 23 goals in 31 appearances for his former side this term.

Pompey manager Paul Cook indicated a place in the match day 18 was not a certainty, as the ex-Barnet man had to be introduced slowly to the Football League: “Jamal is a very exciting young boy, he has fantastic temperament, fantastic ability and I believe he needs to be integrated.

“We must stay confident in what we do and that means integrating the likes of Jamal into the squad and putting them in at the right times.”

Despite Lowe’s scoring instinct, Cook indicated he would play him as one of an attacking three, in his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation: “He can play as one of three, that is the toughest part.

“In normal games your three will have an opportunity to shine, in certain games when people get everyone behind the ball it’s those moments of magic which are vital.”

Cook takes his side to top of the table Doncaster this evening, as they look to narrow the seven point gap between the two sides.
