Poke, a 28-year old goalkeeper, has joined the club on a two-year deal following his release from recently relegated League Two side Torquay United.

Portsmouth manager Andy Awford told the club website, “James is a player that I’ve admired for the last 18 months and enjoyed a very successful spell in Scotland last season.

“I’ve watched him play on a few occasions and am delighted that he’s agreed to join us – especially as there were clubs from higher leagues interested in him.

“Michael is a good all-round goalkeeper, who will come in and provide decent competition.”
