Leyton Orient star Macauley Bonne is attracting interest from a trio of clubs in the Football League, following some impressive performances this season, The Sun is reporting.
Championship strugglers Burton Albion will compete with League One duo Shrewsbury Town and Portsmouth for Bonne when the transfer window re-opens this summer.
Bonne, 22, joined Leyton Orient this summer after leaving Colchester United and he has been in hot goal-scoring form for the East London outfit in the National League.
Despite Leyton Orient battling against relegation for most of the year, the 22-year-old has still managed to grab 20 league goals in 40 matches.
The twice-capped Zimbabwe international is now on the radar of Burton, Shrewsbury and Portsmouth as he continues to impress in non-league.
Shrewsbury and Portsmouth are both competing for promotion to the Championship and are eyeing Bonne to add competition for places up front.
Burton, who are currently 23rd in the second tier and five points adrift of safety, are another side interested in taking a punt on the Leyton Orient youngster.
Bonne has previous Football League experience having played for Colchester’s senior team before his move to the O’s. He scored 15 goals in all competitions for the U’s.
Now Bonne might be ready to move away from Brisbane Road with just one year left on his contract at Leyton Orient.
There is no doubt that Macauley Bonne is too good to be playing non-league football, although Leyton Orient fans will inform you that he should be scoring even more goals. But the 22-year-old has raw talent and he will only get better if he joins a Football League side. The jump from the National League to the Championship or League One will be very difficult for Bonne but he is still young, learning and improving all the time.
