Portsmouth forward Jamal Lowe has said in an interview with the club, that the goals will come, as he attempts to find the net for the first time this season.

The 23-year-old scored four times in League Two last year as Pompey claimed the title on the final day, having moved from non-league football in the January transfer window.

The set-up to the third tier has been a difficult transition for the young player, but he is confident that he will find the back of the net very soon.

Lowe did smash a brace in the Checkatrade trophy against Fulham U23, but knows that league goals are what will define his season this year.

“There’s been a few good chances I should have taken, but the manager said I’m getting in the right places and the goals will come,” he said.

“I’m sure I’ll miss some more, but I’ll also score some.”

The Verdict

Lowe has played well for Pompey this season, but has really struggled to find his goalscoring touch.

It appears however that his confidence has not wavered, and with the right instruction and injection of confidence from his manager, Lowe will surely begin to discover his goalscoring boots in due course.

The season is young and Lowe is adapting to a new level of football having been propelled into the Football League in January from part-time football, and at such a tender age, the forward will certainly begin to find his feet in the third tier.

Pompey fans, is Lowe good enough to play at this level or has his lack of goals concerned you?
