Paul Cook has a major task on his hands to provide Portsmouth supporters with an enjoyable campaign in their first season back in the third-tier for a number of years.

Pompey are without a doubt going to sign some marquee signings throughout the summer in preparation for their push up the league table in the 2017/18 term, although they may go for one or two future prospects.

One being Manchester City winger Brandon Barker, a young talent who has been plying his trade in Holland's second-tier of football for the last ten months and made quite the impression in the continent.

Prior to his move to NAC Breda, where he's on loan at the moment, the 20-year-old's long-term career looked bleak but he has been able to kick start it again and probably doesn't want the current season to come to an end.

Barker's versatility has helped him in his develop in addition.

He has the ability to play on either side of the pitch and it's been shown during his spell in The Netherlands, but left-wing is his preferred preference, of course.

His contract at the Etihad won't expire until the summer of 2020 so a loan deal is the best option for Portsmouth if they want to acquire his services.

Brandon Barker isn't the most recognised name in League One, however, he is an exciting footballer and will get the crowd off their seats - something the fan base will want plenty of next year.
