Kenny Jackett has put together a determined and hard-working squad while at Portsmouth so far, and one player who stands out as a hard-working player is Brandon Haunstrup.

The 22-year-old left-back has struggled over the past few years for game time at Portsmouth, not being able to get a real run in the Pompey team due to the competition ahead of him. However, Haunstrup's luck looked like it could be about to change when first-choice Lee Brown suffered an injury back in August, ruling him out for six weeks.

Haunstrup got his long-awaited chance as he was thrown into the first team and got a run that he had been waiting a long time for, and the defender took his opportunity with both hands.

Haunstrup's performances down the left-hand side impressed both Portsmouth supporters and Kenny Jackett alike, however, since recovering from injury and returning to full fitness, former Bristol Rovers full-back Lee Brown has instantly regained his spot in the side and helped Portsmouth to an important 2-1 win away to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Jackett has recently explained his reasoning for throwing Brown straight back into the starting lineup despite Haunstrup's impressive form, and Haunstrup will likely be disappointed after his extended run in the team.

Haunstrup will be feeling that he deserves more of a chance and will be looking to prove Jackett wrong in the coming weeks, with any opportunities he gets and U23 games coming up that Haunstrup can get involved with.

Haunstrup will now once again have to compete for his place in the starting 11 on gamedays and will be doing all in his power to make sure that chance comes around for himself once again while as competition hots up with the January transfer window not a million miles away.
