League One Portsmouth are trying to sign Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Stephen Henderson, according to respected journalist Alan Nixon.

Pompey are looking to sign a new goalkeeper and with the Reds adding Costel Pantilimon today to solve their goalkeeping issues, Henderson will find himself surplus to requirements at the City Ground under new manager Aitor Karanka.

Henderson joined Forest when he signed on a deal from Charlton back in 2016, but has since dropped down the pecking order and will no doubt relish a move to the South Coast if it comes off, with Henderson keen to get some first team football under his belt.

The 29-year-old Irishman has been quite the journeyman throughout his career having begun his days with Aston Villa. His spell with the Addicks was arguably his most prominent spell in terms of appearances, but he has struggled in the main elsewhere.

He will be hoping a move to promotion chasing Pompey can finally be the kickstar he needs in his career under manager Paul Cook, who will see Henderson's Championship experience as vitally important to his side if he can complete a deal.

Forest and Pompey fans, what do you think to this? Good move? Let us know in the comments!
