Sky Bet League Two outfit Portsmouth will continue in their attempts to sign Sheffield United defender Kieron Freeman this summer, according to the Sheffield Star.
The ex-Nottingham Forest defender is high on Pompey boss Paul Cook’s list of transfer targets for this summer, which comes as a surprise considering his performances were unspectacular during a loan spell last season.
The report which has emerged suggests that the Blades are keen to offload the defender who can play in either full-back position, although there is a contractual issue which has thrown a spanner in the works of a deal being completed already.
Freeman was signed for the Blades by Nigel Clough and he has made 38 appearances for the South Yorkshire-based club since making the switch from Derby County.
Despite the 25-year-old’s inability to hold down a regular starting place at Bramall Lane, there is little doubt that he would be a solid acquisition for Portsmouth in the fourth tier.
Portsmouth fans, would you welcome Freeman back to the club? Can he finally settle at Fratton Park?
