As young starlets go, you're not going to get much better in England right now than Conor Chaplin, who has been setting League Two on fire for Portsmouth this season.

The 19-year-old youth academy prospect has continued his hot run of form and has been showing some excellent signs of development for high-flying Portsmouth this season, who will hope to be challenging for the automatic promotion places come May.

Chaplin had begun showing signs of his quality last season, as he bagged 11 goals across the entire campaign.

But this time, only two months in, he's scored five and looks set to keep putting goals away for his team.

A crucial strike in last weekend's away win against Cambridge United was arguably his most important of the season but once again, it gave him the chance to grab all of the limelight.

He's a player we think is destined for the Premier League and FLW's Hayden Atkins gives us THREE reasons why...

He knows how good he is

At 19-years-old, it's easy for young players to get swallowed up in big games and hearty atmospheres.

Portsmouth might be playing in League 2, but they're still attracting crowds that would put some Championship club's to shame.

The biggest difference between his performances last season and this is that now, he knows how good he is.

His attitude doesn't cross into arrogance- he's a bright young player who probably knows he's destined for a good future.

He gives so much more than just goals

Even if you just watch Chaplin once, it's so clear he gives this Portsmouth team so much more than goals.

He's a player with endless energy and exuberance that is happy to chase down every lost ball. But what strikes you more than anything is how he can lift his team-mates, seasoned professionals, some who have been playing ten years longer than he has.

Showing these characteristics at just 19-years-old suggests to me he could be set for a shot at the big-time in the near future.

He knows where the goal is

The goals are slowly starting to come, but the strike that sticks in our mind is that screamer from the 4-2 win over Wycombe Wanderers back in September.

You'll do well to find a better goal in England this year, let alone the division and it all points to a player that knows where the net is, from all over the pitch.

Conor Chaplin is a man to be very excited about.
