Portsmouth are believed to be interested in former Walsall striker Craig Westcarr and discussions are currently underway to bring him to Fratton Park.
Westcarr is a free agent after not having his contract renewed at the end of the season, despite the fact that he netted seventeen times for the Saddlers last season.
It appears that Portsmouth are now favourites to sign the hit man, and it looks like Andy Awford will steal him from under the noses of Port Vale.
It is believed that Portsmouth are looking for striking options and a striker who can play as part of a three up top, or a lone striker is what they are looking for, and Westcarr certainly fits the bill.
Westcarr scored twenty-two times in total for Walsall since signing for them in January 2013 from Chesterfield, and Walsall’s fans were disappointed when he wasn’t offered a new deal.
