Portsmouth are expected to complete the signing of Lloyd Isgrove, with the winger set to join from automatic promotion rivals Barnsley.
The 26-year-old, who came through the ranks at Pompey's bitter rivals Southampton, has struggled to establish himself in the Tykes team this season.
He has made just two league appearances under Daniel Stendel in the league this season, with his last outing actually against Portsmouth in the 1-1 draw in mid-December.
Therefore, Isgrove was always expected to be on the move this month and BBC Sheffield reporter Andy Giddings revealed on twitter that he will join Kenny Jackett's side today.
That will be a welcome addition for the former Wolves boss who has seen his side stutter in recent weeks.
A 3-2 defeat at Luton last night made is three successive losses in the league and means Pompey are only one point ahead of Barnsley who are third in the table.
Providing the move goes through as expected, Isgrove could be involved for his new team this weekend as Doncaster travel to Fratton Park.
The Verdict
Isgrove is a talented player but he has struggled with injuries and is not in favour under Stendel.
That happens in football but he clearly needs to move as he should have a lot to offer at that level.
So, he would be a smart signing for Portsmouth and he should give them another exciting option in the final third and down the flanks that will seriously help the team.
