Portsmouth have today signed Swindon Town striker Miles Storey on a season-long loan deal.
Storey becomes the eighth new addition at Fratton Park as Portsmouth look to end their now two-season spell in League Two. Portsmouth had been hoping to announce the signing over a fortnight ago, according to the local media in Swindon, however had been unable to negotiate a deal with the League One side due to uncertainty surrounding Swindon’s ownership situation.
Storey played for three different clubs last season, Swindon, Salisbury and Shrewsbury, making 27 league appearances, scoring three times. The 20 year-old had been on the books of both Wolves and Coventry City before signing for Swindon Town as a youth scholar in 2010. Prior to last season, Storey had only made 12 professional league appearances, scoring just once.
The departure of Storey now suggests that Swindon Town are looking to be active in the transfer market following a legal challenge to chairman Lee Power’s ownership of the Wiltshire club. Jack Stephens is expected to re-join the club on a loan basis in the next few days following a successful loan spell last season.
