Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett has confirmed that Milan Lalkovic and Christian Burgess will return from injury this weekend in an interview with the club’s official site.

The pair are set to be fit to face MK Dons at Fratton Park in what promises to be an entertaining affair, in what will be a major boost to the club as they go in search of a playoff spot.

Jackett also provided extremely positive updates on the progress of Brett Pitman and Conor Chaplin, declaring that the duo were also nearing a return to first team action.

“We’re optimistic that both Christian Burgess and Milan Lalkovic will be fit and that will help us,” he said.

“Brett Pitman’s coming along nicely and should be back within a fortnight. Conor Chaplin won’t be ready for Saturday, but he’s close and we’re hopeful he’ll be fine for Tuesday.”

The Verdict

Pompey’s long injury list is slowing dwindling, and fans will be delighted to see an influx of returnees over the course of the next few games.

Injuries to key players have halted Portsmouth’s march for a place in the top six in recent weeks, but with the likes of Lalkovic and top scorer Pitman returning to the match-day squad, fans will be optimistic that their side can challenge for back-to-back promotions.

Following a turbulent spell which saw the former FA Cup winners plummet to the bottom tier of English football, it appears the good times are back on the south coast, with the club harbouring strong ambitions of a top flight return in the not so distant future.
