Port Vale have appointed Robert Page as the new assistant manager to Micky Adams, reports TEAMtalk.
Page has been promoted to work alongside Adams as previous assistant Mark Grew has moved to become goalkeeping coach and scouting co-ordinator.
Adams told the club’s official website:
“I want to thank Mark for his time as assistant manager at the club for the past two years, he has been a brilliant ally to me over this period.
“When George Foster left his scouting role it left a gap that we needed to fill, and I feel that Mark is the right person to co-ordinate all our scouts throughout the country and also continuing his excellent work with our current crop of goalkeepers.
“I’d like to stress that this isn’t a demotion but a switch of roles for a great friend of mine.”
“Rob Page has done an excellent job on the training ground and I feel that this is the next progression in his career path.
As a player, Page enjoyed spells at Watford, Sheffield United, Cardiff City, Coventry City, Huddersfield Town and Chesterfield.
He also has 41 caps for Wales, captaining the side once in a 2-0 win over Hungary in 2005.
