The big story of the day, without a shadow of a doubt, is the news that Aston Villa's new owners have identified Thierry Henry as a possible future manager at Villa Park.

In less than 24 hours Villa have gone from being broke, scraping the bargain baskets for players and threatened with selling off the family silver, to being linked with one of the biggest names in world football from the past twenty years.

It serves to demonstrate how quickly things change in the beautiful game, perhaps one of the reasons we're all so enthralled by it on a daily basis.

What would Henry bring to Villa though? Would it be wise for the money men to wield the axe on Steve Bruce, the manager who guided them to a play off place, and replace him with an untested manager?

Some will say Henry's experience and contacts would be invaluable to Villa; 'once a winner, always a winner'. There's an argument to be had there, certainly. This is a man who has lifted the World Cup, helped to coach a team to third placed this summer and has more personal accolades to his name than virtually every other player on the planet.

There's other who want to know exactly what Thierry Henry knows about defeating a resolute Millwall side on a sharp December night at the Den.

Even our FLW panel can't give you a definitive answer!

Poor move for Villa in my opinion. All for giving someone a start in football but Bruce is a steady hand and at a time when the club is struggling, he’d be better.

However, if this new cash injection means funds for Henry, then it might work out. Once again though, it’s a high risk play from Xia and Villa.

It would certainly be an exciting move!

Henry is obviously a legend of the game and is highly-regarded as a coach after his work with Belgium.

Appointing him would be a risk as he lacks experience but Villa could do with a fresh approach and the Arsenal legend is a big-name that could signal the start of a new era.

Pure lunacy. It would be an attention grabbing move by ill-informed foreign owners who only understand 'branding' and not football.

Thierry Henry is a legend, there's no doubting that, but he isn't an experienced football manager.

Villa need know-how, managerial nous and substance, not a big name player appointed for the wrong reasons.
