Leeds United defender, Pontus Jansson seems to have all but ended any speculation linking Marcelo Bielsa with a resignation from Elland Road.

It was announced earlier on Wednesday afternoon that the Leeds boss had called a press conference for 5pm this evening, and many Leeds fans would have been fearing that the Argentine was going to walk away from his managerial post.

But Jansson, who has been a regular in the Leeds side under Bielsa this season, has claimed that any rumours suggesting he would leave the club, as a joke.

Ian McCourt from One Football had earlier claimed that Bielsa is set to resign, but Jansson has responded by claiming that their claim is part of an April Fools joke and shouldn't be taken seriously.

It remains to be seen as to what the outcome of the press conference will be, but it's thought that he will be making a statement on the 'spygate' issue that has dominated the headlines in recent weeks.

But if it 'spygate' that Bielsa is talking about, then it will be a relief to Leeds supporters who would have been fearing the worst about his future in charge of the league-leaders.

The Verdict:

This will be a huge relief to Leeds United supporters.

There would have been real concern amongst the Elland Road faithful, but Jansson's latest comments seem to all but end the rumours of Bielsa resigning.

Leeds fans will still be fearful of the worst, but this latest update will surely ease their worries.
