Pontus Jansson has stated that 'everything happen for a reason' in wake of his injury picked up in Leeds United’s defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday.

Leeds watched their promotion chances take a significant hit against the Blades, who walked away from Elland Road with a huge three points after a 1-0 win.

And, it was an eventful afternoon for Jansson, who played in three positions over the course of the 90 minutes – centre-back, striker and goalkeeper.

All that was on top of a knee injury, which Leeds have confirmed will keep the Swede out of action for three weeks.

Today, Jansson has issued an update on his

The setback means that Jansson will not be heading away with Sweden on international duty this week, as focus switches away from the Championship’s promotion race.

However, it also means that Jansson is a major doubt for when Leeds welcome Millwall to Elland Road at the end of the month, whilst Jansson might not be ready for the trip to Birmingham City on April 6.

The Verdict

Jansson’s absence is going to be a big setback for Leeds in the coming weeks, with it lucky that the international break means he isn’t missing too many club fixtures.

The defender is seemingly positive when looking back on the setback, although you’d imagine a character like Jansson will be gutted he’s missing international duty.

Now, it is about rest and recovery, with Jansson needing to get back as soon as possible.
