It has recently been announced by Leeds United that Mateusz Klich has agreed a new deal with the Yorkshire-based club.

The Polish international has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season for the Whites, and he'll be hoping to build on some impressive showings.

The 29-year-old has been a key member of Marcelo Bielsa's plans in recent years, so it would have been a no-brainer for the club to offer him a new contract.

Former Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson took to Twitter to send a message to Klich following the announcement of his new contract.

Jansson recently left Leeds in the summer in favour of a move to Brentford, which would have come as a surprise to some of the Elland Road faithful.

Leeds will be hoping to win a long-awaited promotion back into the Premier League this season, and they've certainly put themselves in a strong position heading towards the festive period.

Bielsa's side are next in action after the international break when they take on Luton Town, in a game where they could move to the top of the Championship table if results go their way.

The Verdict:

Klich has fully deserved his new deal at Leeds.

I think he's been weighing up his options recently, with interest being reported in his services from Premier League clubs in the past.

But he's shown that he's committed to Leeds now, and will be hoping to play his part in their promotion push this season.

Jansson clearly still is in contact with some of his former Leeds team-mates, and the Swedish international could be regretting his move to Brentford if Leeds are to win promotion ahead of the Bees.
