Pontus Jansson has issued a message to Leeds United, asking whether the club has any transfer news at this late stage of Deadline Day.

Leeds are thought to be close to agreeing a deal for Daniel James to arrive from Swansea City, but a deal hasn’t been announced yet.

The Whites have issued a statement earlier confirming that Tom Pearce and Sam Dalby have left the club on loan, with Jansson quick to respond, asking if there was set to be anymore news, as everyone associated with the club awaits the arrival of James.

Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post has confirmed that the 21-year-old has passed a medical at Elland Road earlier today, with official confirmation seemingly on the horizon.

James played in Swansea’s 3-3 draw with Birmingham City earlier in the week, scoring the game’s opening goal.

However, a late move to Leeds appears to be edging closer, with the Welsh winger set to be the club’s second senior arrival of the month.

Kiko Casilla signed from Real Madrid at the mid-point of January, with the 32-year-old goalkeeper debuting in last Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Rotherham United.

The Verdict

Jansson’s quote is a tongue-in-cheek statement, with the defender clearly knowing that James should be announced before 11pm.

Time is running out for Leeds, but they are clearly looking to build up to a big reveal.

James looks like an excellent addition on paper. He’s a good age, with good speed and potential.
