Leeds United face Aston Villa tomorrow and are coming into the game in good form following two impressive victories in their last three games.

The only loss in that time was away against leaders Wolves, where the Whites fell to a 4-1 defeat.

However, the game changed when midfielder Ronaldo Vieira was sent off at 2-1 with the visitors just beginning to control the game.

Nevertheless, the result was completely fair as Leeds were second best for the first half and they were lucky to only trail by two goals.

And, speaking to Sky Sports, Swedish international Pontus Jansson has admitted that Wolves are not only the best side in the league, but the best Championship side he has faced since he moved to England at the start of last season.

They're good defensively but their three in attack are the best players in the league. Wolves are the best team I've played against in the last two years.”

On the night, the front three of Leo Bonatini, Diogo Jota and Ivan Cavaleiro caused all sorts of problems for the Jansson and Liam Cooper, with the latter two both scoring.

The Verdict

It’s fairly common now for anyone associated with a side that plays Wolves to state that they are the best team in the league, it’s testament to how good they are.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men were particularly good against Leeds in the first half when they played, with the movement and fluidity of the front three just too much for the Whites defence. The fact Jansson says they are better than Newcastle United who won the title last year is also a big claim.

Luckily, Leeds won’t be up against players of that class every week and it can be used as a marker for Thomas Christiansen’s men of the standard they need to reach.
