Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has called on the club's fans to ignore the rumours that he will leave the club.

Jansson has been speaking to the Swedish media ahead of the World Cup in recent weeks and appeared reluctant to commit his future to the Whites.

The central defender revealed his desire to play in the Premier League and has been lonked with the likes of West Ham, Burnley and Southampton in the past.

However, the 27-year old took to Instagram today to send a strong message about those reports.

"Since my first day I’ve always been honest but when people using google translate to paint a picture of me, that’s ridiculous."

"Would never stand and talk bad about my club, you changed my life but people should always listen to the real source before believing in things."

The former Torino man joined Leeds from the Italian side in 2016 and was a fans favourite after a superb first season at Elland Road.

Yet, things haven't gone as well this season with the powerful defender failing to rediscover that form despite signing a five-year deal in October.

The Verdict

Jansson is clearly suggesting that his messages have been mixed up in translation and it's good that he has commented on the issue as Leeds fans were understandably annoyed.

Now, they should give the defender the benefit of doubt and wait to see what happens.

Club's will be interested but Leeds will want to keep the former Malmo man as they look to build a squad capable of winning promotion.
