There was certainly an element of surprise when Leeds United announced that Pontus Jansson had left the club to join Brentford in the summer transfer window.

The Swedish international made 41 appearances in total for the Yorkshire-based club last season, but made the bold move to Griffin Park to pursue a new challenge in his career.

Brentford have got off to a relatively strong start in this year's league campaign, with Thomas Frank's side currently sat 13th in the table.

Whereas Leeds are sat third in the Championship, and will be targeting a long-awaited promotion back into the Premier League this term.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Jansson revealed what life was like to work under Marcelo Bielsa, and was full of praise for the Argentine.

"To work with Bielsa for one year gave me a lot of headaches also because of long days, a lot of meetings and a lot of things to take in. But it helped me so much, not only as a player, but also as a person how to be a professional footballer, how to eat, how to behave, how to sleep, all those things to recover well."

It'll be interesting to see who wins promotion to the Premier League this season, but Jansson will be hoping that he can lead his side to their first promotion into the top-flight.

Jansson and his Brentford team-mates are next in action on Monday evening, when they take on QPR at Loftus Road, in what is certain to be a tricky test for Thomas Frank's side.

The Verdict:

It's no surprise to see Jansson speaking highly of Bielsa.

The Argentine has really impressed me with his in-depth analysis and work with the Leeds squad since arriving at Elland Road last season.

I'll admit that I was shocked to see Jansson leave the club in the summer, in favour of a move to Brentford, who arguably aren't in as strong a position as Leeds were during the summer.
