Plymouth Argyle manager Ryan Lowe has provided an injury update on Jose Baxter and Conor Grant ahead of the Pilgrims' home tie with Grimsby Town tomorrow afternoon.

Baxter first spent time out on the sidelines after picking up his calf injury in the 2-2 draw with Crawley Town in September, before returning as a substitute against Swindon Town in the league last month.

The 27 year-old has missed the past four games however because of his niggling injury.

Meanwhile for Grant, he has missed the last five matches that Plymouth have participated in after he injured his thigh in the Leasing.com Trophy win at Swindon Town last month.

Lowe said: "They (Baxter and Grant) are probably a week away I would say. They are on grass-based running now, grass-based work.

“I don’t know who’s going to come first, whether it will be Conor or Jose."

Baxter signed for Plymouth in the summer after spending a season with Oldham Athletic, and he has currently made 11 appearances for the Pilgrims under Lowe this campaign, netting one goal in the process.

Grant has made nine appearances this season as the 24 year-old midfielder has been a more prominent member of the Plymouth first team following his bit-part role last campaign.

The Verdict

Baxter and Grant both have a part to play for Plymouth this season and are important squad players as well as adding depth to the midfield that already contains the likes of Danny Mayor, George Cooper and Antoni Sarcevic.

Lowe will be delighted to get two of his midfielders back as the Pilgrims squad looks like it's almost over the early injury struggles Lowe has had to put up with this season, and the two injured seem determined to help Plymouth climb back up to League One.
