Plymouth Argyle manager Ryan Lowe has issued a firm warning to young strikers Klaidi Lolos and Alex Fletcher, following Plymouth's 1-1 draw with their hosts Swindon Town in the EFL League Two on Saturday.

Apprentice striker Rubin Wilson took the spot of Lolos on the bench, and Lowe wasted no time in offering the dropped striker and fellow young forward Fletcher a warning despite Plymouth's underwhelming start to the league season.

The Plymouth gaffer said: "He (Lolos) needs to do better. There has been times when he has done fantastic and times when he hasn’t.

“Young Rubin is in form for the youth team at the moment and he warrants his place on the bench.

“Fletcher is another one. They need to perform and they need to show me they are going to be good enough."

Lolos has currently made six appearances for the Pilgrims first team this season, while Fletcher endured a  miserable period out on loan with National League side Aldershot Town as he made six appearances for the Shots but failed to net a goal during a one-month loan period.

The reason that Wilson went on to be given a chance on the bench for Plymouth on Saturday was due to the hamstring injuries picked up by other strikers Byron Moore, Dominic Telford and Ryan Taylor in the past few months.

Lowe also confirmed that fellow youngsters Jude Boyd and Mike Peck continue to travel with the first team after impressive performances for the youth sides.

The Verdict:

With Lowe issuing a stern warning to his young forwards about the standards that he expects on the pitch and in training if they are going to break into his matchday squad, then the strikers will need to remain on their toes and prove a point if they are going to cement their spot in and around Lowe's first team across the coming months.
