Plymouth Argyle will be looking to continue their good run of form as they approach one of their biggest games of the season this Saturday – The Devon Derby.
Ryan Lowe’s side thrashed Leyton Orient 4-0 at Home Park in midweek, and Pilgrims fans will be pleased that their side go into their first derby against Exeter City in two years with positive momentum behind them.
Plymouth currently sit in 8th position in the League Two table, with Matt Taylor’s Exeter City in 6th, after two heavy defeats on the spin.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash at St James Park on Saturday, Ryan Lowe suggested to the local press that he believes Argyle are a bigger club than Exeter, which is likely to rile up Grecians fans.
He said: “Matty [Taylor] has done a terrific job up there. It’s a club that, without being disrespectful, it’s not like an Argyle, you know what I mean?”
“The expectations for us are massive, the expectations for them I wouldn’t have thought are too massive.”
Lowe’s comments could be perceived as ‘mind games’ toward Exeter City ahead of the big game on Saturday. It remains to be seen if it will work in his side’s favour or not.
After setting the initial pace at the top of League Two, Exeter’s form has tailed off. Plymouth could jump Matt Taylor’s side in the league if they manage to secure their third win in succession.
