Sky Bet League Two side Plymouth Argyle are interested in signing Bury winger Danny Mayor this summer, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The Pilgrims will be hoping for a fresh start under new manager Ryan Lowe, who the Devon club lured away from Bury despite winning automatic promotion to League One last term.

Tough conditions off the pitch at Gigg Lane led to Lowe leaving his post as Shakers boss, and it now looks as if he will look to take one of their most impressive performers with him to Home Park.

Mayor played an influential role in Bury's promotion from League Two last term - the 28-year-old scored nine goals and produced nine assists from the wing, and was also nominated for the League Two Player of the Season award after a string of standout displays.

According to Nixon, though, Mayor is "likely" to follow his former manager to Home Park, and he also suggests that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will help him out with loan deals next season.

Plymouth will be hoping to get promoted at the first time of asking next season, after being relegated to the fourth tier on the final game of the season last time around.

The Verdict

It would be a massive coup if Plymouth were to lure a player of Mayor's quality back down to League Two next season.

He had an incredible season with Bury, and it would be very surprising if League One clubs weren't after him this summer.

If Graham Carey leaves Argyle, then Mayor would be such a good replacement for the playmaker.
