Plymouth Argyle manager Ryan Lowe has vowed to not under-estimate their opponents Swindon Town as they make the trip to Wiltshire for a visit to The County Ground.
Plymouth also travelled to Swindon for a Leasing.Com Trophy encounter on Tuesday night, where the Pilgrims won 3-0 thanks to goals from Zak Rudden, Joel Grant and Joe Riley.
Both sides are expected to look a lot different after resting many of their key players for Tuesday’s clash, and Plymouth will travel to Swindon looking to get their league campaign back on track after an underwhelming start to the league campaign.
Ahead of the Swindon game, Lowe said via the Plymouth Herald: “We would never under-estimate a Swindon team under Richie Wellens – not a chance.
“They will be thinking ‘They got one over us, they don’t get one over on us again’.
“What we have got to do is worry about ourselves and make sure we play the right way – creating chances, runs off the ball, runs with the ball and passing the ball quick.”
Plymouth are currently 12th in the EFL League Two table following relegation from League One last season and currently have 16 points from their first 12 leagues games as new manager Ryan Lowe looks for that winning formula, whereas Swindon are going strong in the league and are sat in seventh place, just inside the playoff places, with 20 points from 12 games however have lost their last two league games to high flyers Bradford City and Newport County, both above Swindon in the table.
Ryan Lowe is right to not under-estimate a Swindon side that is still going strongly in the league even if they have lost their last two league fixtures to higher opposition than them in the past couple of weeks.
Lowe will want to see a response from his Plymouth side after a poor start to the season so far and if they can take three points over Swindon, it’ll be a good place to start.
