Ipswich Town powered themselves to the top of the League One table after a narrow 1-0 victory against Rochdale last night.

Danny Rowe scored the only goal at the Spotland Stadium to secure all three points for the Tractor Boys to draw them level with Wycombe Wanderers on points, but edge above them on goal difference.

They have now played one more game than their promotion rivals and will stay ahead of them until at least until next weekend.

The Wanderers have FA Cup and EFL Trophy matters to attend to before they eventually jump back into League One action again.

After playing 687 minutes of football, Rowe finally got off the mark with his first goal for the club this season and what a time it was to get it.

The away win was their second in as many games after they bettered Southend United after a blip of two league defeats to Accrington Stanley and Rotherham United.

The club have made quite a habit out of earning slender victories this season. This was their fifth 1-0 win of the campaign.

The club celebrated the win and rediscovery of form via Twitter.

Whilst some acknowledged the slightness of the victory, it is fair to say that the majority were focused on one thing and one thing only which was that Town now sit in poll position.
