Birmingham City's Spanish forward Alvaro Gimenez has spoke out of his disappointment as the Blues weekend fightback at Derby County proved in vain as City, coming back from two goals down, eventually lost 3-2.

Gimenez, a summer arrival from Almeria, has found things tough going in the Championship as his side look to fill the goalscoring void left behind by close season departure Che Adams.

The Spaniard had previously spent his entire career in his homeland, featuring for the likes of Elche, Mallorca and Alcorcon prior to Almeria while the 28-year-old has now been trusted to form an attacking duo with the powerful Lukas Jutkiewicz. So far though, while the endeavour of the pair cannot be questioned, they are currently lacking in potency with Gimenez finding the net just once since his arrival.

Gimenez remains a popular figure with supporters of the Blues however, his workrate and willingness lending his to a fanbase who appreciate the effort and the solid if unspectacular start made to the season by Clotet's men.

Blues fans were quick in taking to Twitter and urge Gimenez to take the club's next penalty, after Jutkiewicz's miss from the spot at Pride Park cost his side dear as they lost out late on.
